I am excited to announce that I am now trained in Brainspotting Phase 1, a powerful and effective method for healing trauma. 

Brainspotting was developed by Dr. David Grand in 2002 and is a therapeutic technique that uses the brain’s natural ability to process and heal from traumatic experiences by identifying activated eye positions that correspond with the issue of disturbance.

Here’s a brief overview of Brainspotting and how it can benefit you:

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a type of therapy born from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Brainspotting uses spots in a person’s visual field to help them process pain and trauma. During a session, we might use a pointer to guide your gaze to specific “brainspots”—eye positions that correlate with where your brain stores trauma. This helps to access and resolve deeply rooted emotional distress.

How Does It Work?

Brainspotting bypasses the “thinking” or reasoning part of your brain and taps into the brain’s innate self-scanning and self-healing abilities. By focusing on these brainspots, we can access the subcortical brain, the area responsible for motion, consciousness, emotions, and learning. This allows us to reach the trauma trapped in these deeper regions, often facilitating quicker healing compared to traditional talk therapy or behavior-based therapies. (Talk and behavior therapies are great but sometimes you want something else.)
